Interview to the Weltwoche magazine

Moscow is relatively calm about Trump’s coming to power in the US. There are no big illusions or expectations about his peace initiatives or what he can offer. The previous years of the Trump presidency have taught us to be realistic about what is possible and what isn’t.

These days we remember the Yalta Conference, which took place exactly 80 years ago. Some speculate that maybe it’s time for another big deal. However, a deal like Yalta is not possible now. Still, it would be interesting to hear proposals and ideas from Trump’s entourage, because — whether we like it or not — he is the person who sets the political agenda globally.

Fyodor Lukyanov, Editor-in-Chief of Russia in Global Affairs magazine, gave an interview to the Die Weltwoche daily (Switzerland).
