China’s Activity in Central Asia in Light of Russian Interests
For Russia, currently locked in confrontation with the West, China’s presence in Central Asia promises not only challenges, but also benefits, such as enhanced security and economic interconnectedness, providing Russia with necessary goods and filling vacuums that might otherwise be occupied by unfriendly countries.
