Although Jacques de Larosiere, a renowned world economist, the European political and financial guru, turns 95 this fall, he continues to closely monitor international events. He has kindly shared his understanding of today’s most pressing issue and of historical realities. We find it necessary to acquaint our readers with of the opinion of the respected author to show that Europeans may have an alternative view of the deepening Ukraine crisis.

Ukrainian conflict is not the thing-in-itself core issue. It’s just a symptom, a sign of ailment the current world order is striving to survive. If the West continues to supply the regime in Kiev with weapons, equipment, and expertise, this conflict will be protracted with more blood and suffering.

The deepest lesson of Yugoslavia is that it foredoomed itself to defeat by the shift in its own thinking. That shift has also taken place in Russia. Avoidance of a Yugoslav outcome and a Serbian fate will require the reversal of that colossal self-defeating error in Serbian thinking.  

World order Z began to be formed before sophisticated analysts could describe it. And it is being formed through an armed conflict in Europe, unparalleled in scale and intensity since World War II.
