The Kremlin’s strategic decision on the special military operation in February 2022 is accelerating the processes of pluralization and democratization of international relations. Irrespective of the immediate results of a future settlement between Ukraine (and the West) and Russia, the conflict contributes significantly to the prospective establishment of the Global Majority’s rule within the polycentric international order.

The fossilized structures of the Cold War reproduce themselves in new forms, prompting conflict and global polarization. The political West is now challenged by the steadily constituting political East, a process that may restore balance in international politics.
