Russia in Global Affairs

Globalization, albeit no longer so global these days, affects children’s values, self-images and world outlook through targeted marketing of fairy tales, games and assorted media products. This article analyzes these effects and proposes to those concerned a number of measures to counteract them.

Law does not require the impossible from a person, and a person does not expect tricks from the legal system. Values have their own logic, which is not always clear to a person who has decided to speak out for all the good and against all the bad. Both law and values mobilize a person, but they do it differently.

The events of February 2022 drew a line under the whole era of Russian and, probably, even world history. The magnitude of the changes is such that it would be pointless not just to try to comprehend, but even describe them. However, the historical caesura allows us to look at what has happened as a distinctive transformation of Russian foreign policy within the international context.

In a postmodern world, where all old values are in question and relativized, it is the realization of the imperative of human survival as an Absolute that can become the starting point in building a new global consensus.

History has become one of the public languages (discourses) in the political life of not only Russia, but also other European countries, and the use of this language, be it newspapers or academic journals, implies a certain meaning for those who participate in such discussions.

This Monday marked 50 years since one of the 20th century’s most iconic moments, when German Chancellor Willy Brandt fell to his knees in Warsaw, emotionally apologizing for the horrors the Nazis had unleashed on Eastern Europe.
